Grok Is Undressing Cosplayers on X — And They Are Not Happy

We reported last year (hehe) that X added a new button to all photos posted on the social network, allowing users to edit any image published by any account with the help of AI.
Many people are not happy about this. The artist behind Dr. Stone announced that he will no longer post his artwork on X, followed shortly after by the author of Gachiakuta. Now, cosplayers are also raising complaints.
Grok Is Undressing Cosplayers and They Are Not Happy
At least two cosplayers have publicly complained about how some users are using X’s new image editing button. One of them is Amatsu Pukupu. She began seeing people asking Grok to leave her practically naked. After noticing this, she reported the issue to X, which replied that this practice does not violate its terms of service.

It is not difficult to find users asking Grok to put Amatsu in a “microbikini” in her cosplay photos, as you can see in the example below.

And spoiler: Grok complied and even commented, “Haha, the thong level is the peak of absurdity! What will be your next crazy idea?” after turning her outfit into a thong.
Another cosplayer who complained was Rexxv. She even made a tweet mocking people who use AI to remove her clothes, but later deleted the post.
“Starting the year like this: masturbating using an image generated by AI from another person’s photo, lol. Poor virgin otakus who got dragged into this without having anything to do with it, lol.”
For example, this is a photo of Miku that Rexxv posted on her profile.

Then, a Spanish-speaking account asked Grok to edit the photo above and put her in a bikini, which Grok did.

And it did not stop there. Users later asked to make her fatter, add ahegao expressions, change her clothes, dirty the image, and more.
Below are some reactions to the case:
- This is not okay / This is seriously wrong
- I don’t see how this is different from erotic cosplay.
- One thing is doing it yourself. Another is someone else taking your photo and doing it without permission. That’s uncomfortable, right?
- What’s funny is that Grok itself is posting this, lol.
- I checked the replies and this clearly crossed the line, lol.
- This is literally hell.
- Foreigners’ sense of ethics is completely broken.
- Thanks, X (Twitter).
- So now it’s a trend to ask for bikini edits in the replies, huh?
- Amazing… kids today can freely create ******** of their classmates.
- I saw it and honestly didn’t think it was a big deal.
- This will probably end up being regulated pretty quickly.
The cosplayers received support from their followers in the replies on X, with many users trying to help by reporting the content and others sending messages of encouragement.
