A very strange case happened recently, when an anime production was announced even though it was not real. Everything began when Akane Ikegami, the illustrator responsible for the character designs and artwork of the game Orefukachi, posted a message on X announcing that the title would receive an anime adaptation.

The post was accompanied by a celebratory illustration and directed fans to an account that appeared to be official for the supposed anime. Naturally, the publication spread quickly, leading many people to believe that the project was real.

Just a few hours later, HULOTTE released an official statement saying that the information was completely false. The studio explained that there is no anime in production and that, if anything were actually being developed, it would be happening without authorization from the rights holders.

The situation became even more serious when the studio warned members of the game’s development team, as well as voice actors and external collaborators, to contact them immediately if they were approached by a supposed production committee.

This led fans to speculate about the possibility of a scam or phishing scheme, although nothing of that sort had been officially confirmed at the time.

The Truth Behind the Case: Where Did the Fake Orefukachi Anime Announcement Come From?

Two days after the incident, Akane Ikegami published an apology note on her official account. The statement begins with a deep apology to everyone involved, to the fans who support the work, and to those who were bothered or confused by the situation.

She explains that she independently posted the announcement claiming that the game Orefukachi would receive an anime adaptation. According to her, the post was based solely on a personal wish and did not reflect reality. In other words, it was an impulsive and irresponsible decision.

She then admits that, although the rights to the work belong to HULOTTE, she mistakenly believed she could freely use the content because she was responsible for the character designs. As a result, she did not consult or confirm anything with the company before publishing the announcement.

The note also clarifies an important point: she states that there is no anime production committee involved. The claim that she had been “contacted by a production committee” was false. She specifically apologizes for that lie.

Additionally, she confirms that the X account created to promote the supposed anime was also created and operated by herself, and not by any official organization.
