A bizarre phenomenon occurred on the internet over the past few days. An anime profile with just over 27,000 followers posted a scene from the anime Fairy Tail — a scene that is actually quite old and that I thought was already well known among anime fans.

The scene shows Lucy wearing a very sensual outfit and dancing in a bar, while Erza, dressed in a bunny costume, serves customers. In reality, everything is part of an operation to steal an item from a man.

Check out the scene below:

This is one of the best-animated scenes in Fairy Tail and features an extremely high level of ecchi, with Lucy’s body details being very well drawn. However, once it was shared on social media, a lot of people completely lost their minds, and several comments were made that can only be described as insane.

Below, you can read virtual feces in the form of “comments”:

“Weebs deserve the male loneliness epidemic”

“Fairy Tail is truly the lowest of the low”

“How degenerate do you have to be to watch this”

“What a piece of trash Fairy Tail is”

“Fairy Tail had so much potential, it’s a shame the author sees his female characters like this”

“This is why people don’t take anime seriously”

“I think if you watch this, I am a better person than you”

“This is the reason anime failed”

If you want to read more virtual garbage, just take a look at the shares that post received. However, one comment stood out, coming from a Japanese profile that posted the following unnecessary reaction:

That’s when Dragon Fafnir (a follower of Você Sabia Anime) commented that an interesting fact is that most manga are created by women. Therefore, if the industry as a whole has a lot of fanservice, it exists with the approval of female authors who also work on ecchi manga.

Donna then asked for the “source” of this information, and Dragon Fafnir provided it: a 2021 study that showed exactly that. To which Donna replied, “Even if you bring manga data…”

In other words, she asked for the source, and now the source suddenly doesn’t matter because it doesn’t support her awful opinion. How about we remind people of some posts that have already appeared here on the site about this? (In our Portuguese version of the website):

  • A survey says that 77% of mangaka in Japan are women
  • 40% of NIKKE players (a very ecchi game) in South Korea are WOMEN
  • Around 30% of hentai authors are WOMEN
  • Women BUY hentai manga
  • Ecchi manga full of fanservice SELL MORE to WOMEN than to men

There’s more, but I think that’s enough. Honestly, this whole discussion about fanservice is so stupid that I genuinely got angry while writing this post.
