Danganronpa Creator Almost Arrested in China After Fan Gathering

The Danganronpa creator almost got arrested in China after a misunderstanding with local police. Kazutaka Kodaka, also known for The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, visited Shenzhen on August 29 and unexpectedly attracted a huge crowd of fans.
Over 300 people gathered in front of a shopping mall after Kodaka casually shared his location on social media. The large crowd caught the attention of the police, who assumed it was an unauthorized event — something that could lead to arrest or even deportation.
Fortunately, Kodaka managed to explain the situation before things escalated. He later apologized, admitting that he never expected so many Chinese fans to show up just to meet him.
Kazutaka Kodaka’s Growing Popularity in China

Kodaka’s recent rise in popularity in China is strongly linked to his activity on Weibo, the Chinese social network where he frequently posts. By engaging with the local anime and gaming scene, he quickly built a strong fanbase.
The creator revealed that at first, he thought he would need to work hard to promote The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, especially since Tookyo Games went into debt during development. However, the game turned out to be much more popular than expected.
The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is currently available on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch
