Chapter 212 of Dandadan: Okarun and Aira React to Momo’s Memory Loss

Chapter 212 of Dandadan is out, and finally Okarun and Aira learn about Momo’s situation. For those who don’t remember, after shrinking due to a cursed object, Momo lost her memories when she returned to her normal size.

Everything that happened since chapter 1 is gone from her memory, so we have the “chapter 1 Momo” again. I already said how much I disliked the idea of making her forget everything, especially now that Okarun had promised to redo his confession to Momo (and she had a 99% chance of accepting), and they were about to start dating.

Finally, Okarun and Aira reunite with Momo and learn about her situation. It seems that Momo has already met Vamola again and rekindled their friendship, which makes sense since Vamola lives with them.

Even though I dislike this kind of plot with all my heart, I was relieved to see that even without her memories, Momo remains the same. She and Aira continue bickering as usual.

This made me feel a bit relieved about her, but what about Okarun?

If you remember the beginning of the story, she wasn’t interested in him at all. She only helped him out of her dislike for bullying. Their friendship began when Okarun irritated her by claiming that spirits don’t exist, and that sparked their bond.

The chapter ends with Okarun recalling his memories and remembering that it’s Momo who always comes to him. He’s determined to go to her now, basically planning to talk to her… I see this going wrong, with Momo misunderstanding, so it would be good if Jiji or someone explained that everyone there is a friend, and Momo tries to make friends with everyone. But in terms of romance, I imagine a lot of complications coming.

What I THINK will happen: at the beginning of this chapter, Okarun was training to see if he could gain powers. Now that he no longer has Turbo Granny’s abilities, I imagine the memory loss plot will coincide with a potential awakening of his powers.

Then he might help her recover her memories with his new powers… or they might go to Turbo Granny for advice, and she ends up stealing his balls again. I really dislike this memory plot and want it to be over soon.
