Chainsaw Man Reze Pool Scene Censored in Malaysia

A sad but expected piece of news coming from Malaysia — fans who went to see Chainsaw Man Reze in theaters were surprised to find that the Reze pool scene was censored. The country is well-known for censoring anime and manga, but how exactly was this scene changed?

On September 25, a topic was posted on the Chainsaw Man subreddit by user Dajoker, who shared his opinion about the movie, praising its perfect and beautiful animation. He also complimented the pacing, saying the film didn’t rush the story, and applauded Reina Ueda, Reze’s voice actress.

The only thing he didn’t like was the censorship in his country, explaining that the pool scene had been removed. According to his post:

“The part I didn’t like was that my country cut the pool scene. It’s just one second of Reze teaching Denji how to swim, and then it cuts straight to the classroom.”

In the Chainsaw Man manga, Reze and Denji are in a pool when she starts taking off her clothes, getting naked and entering the water to teach him how to swim.

When asked where he watched the movie, Dajoker replied that it was in Malaysia — a country known for censoring nudity (they once even added clothes to the Titans in Attack on Titan). Because of that, the scene was removed from Malaysian theaters.

You can still watch the scene below, which for now is available on YouTube thanks to someone who recorded it during the screening.

Interestingly, he also mentioned that the lingerie scene remains in the movie, meaning only the pool scene was censored in local cinemas.

Since the topic went viral on social media, other viewers from Malaysia have confirmed that the Reze pool scene was indeed censored.
