Something funny happened in Blue Archive on August 31. When players logged in, they were met with a true invasion of the character Koyuki — no matter where you went in the game, Koyuki was everywhere.

This bizarre incident is now called the “Koyukification.” But what exactly happened?

During the event, global server players noticed strange things:

  • Recruitment banner thumbnails were replaced with Koyuki’s 3D model.

  • In-game cafés were suddenly filled with dozens of Koyukis.

  • The game’s info page title was changed to “nihahaha,” matching Koyuki’s mischievous personality.

At one point, even other students and Hatsune Miku began appearing repeatedly. After around six hours of emergency maintenance, Nexon fixed the issues and launched an official investigation.

According to Nexon, the attack was traced back to an IP in the Netherlands. The community dubbed it “Koyukification,” as it seemed more like a playful stunt from a fan who wanted to showcase his waifu than a malicious hack.

The report confirmed that no critical data was altered or stolen, including account details, payment information, or progress records, since these are stored in separate, secured databases.

Nexon reinforced its internal security measures and reported the case to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), which is now assisting in the investigation.

As compensation for the downtime, Nexon is rewarding all global players who log in between September 1 and September 8 (until 14:59 UTC) with:

  • 3,000 Expert Permits
  • 300,000 Credits
  • 7 Lesson Tickets
  • 7 Bounty Tickets
  • 7 Scrimmage Tickets

It’s important to note that the Japanese version of Blue Archive, managed by Yostar Games, was not affected by this hack.
