Apple Requires Censorship of Twinkle Star Knights

The game Twinkle Star Knights is facing serious trouble on the App Store after Apple blocked its latest iOS update. The requirement is that all illustrations and animations in the game must be altered, including content that has been available since its launch in 2023 — and by altered, Apple essentially means censored.

According to developer EXNOA, under the DMM GAMES brand, the update released in August was not approved by Apple. While the Android and PC versions were updated without issues, the iOS version remained stuck in an incomplete state.

Apple reportedly flagged certain artwork and animations. Even after correction attempts and resubmissions, Apple expanded the requirement: all illustrations, even those from the original release, must be reviewed (censored) for the game to be accepted back on the App Store.

This decision has delayed new features and in-game events for Twinkle Star Knights, creating a gap between Android and iOS versions. To minimize the impact, the team suggested using SP Cloud, a cloud-based version also accessible on iOS, though it may suffer from performance delays.

EXNOA stated that it plans to gradually submit the fixes by the end of the month, but there is no guarantee of immediate approval from Apple. The studio apologized to fans and promised to strengthen its communication with the App Store to avoid similar problems in the future.

Twinkle Star Knights also has a fully uncensored adult version available for browsers. The iOS and Android versions are intended for all ages but still include some ecchi skins.
