When an Adult Film Lied About Its Location in Japan

Imagine buying an adult film and, in the first few minutes, starting to suspect that something isn’t quite right. Curiosity turns into suspicion, and suspicion eventually leads to an investigation to confirm whether the production really lied about where it was filmed.

That’s exactly what happened in 2018 when a certain film in the genre was released with a curious premise. The story claimed that there was a “legend” in the streets of Toyama, in the Hokuriku region: a young woman walking around the streets without a bra. The crew then supposedly hit the road to the countryside to confirm the rumor and capture the encounter on camera.

Watching the film, the audience sees scenes of the crew driving to the alleged rural town, observing the young woman walking the streets, and from there, the story follows the expected path for this type of production.

The problem arose when a more attentive viewer began to suspect something. To him, there were clear signs that the footage hadn’t been filmed in rural Japan, but rather in Tokyo. This was frustrating because the film’s selling point was precisely to show something far from the capital.

From this suspicion, a true collective investigation began. People started analyzing details of the video, and each new observation brought more doubts about the official version.

“A Seibu bus with that paint job wouldn’t be running in Toyama, right? Okay, maybe they took the Kan-Etsu route, but did they get tired of the road and get off in Tokorozawa?”

“That AV that lied saying it was filmed in Toyama… I found out it’s actually in Ome, Tokyo.”

Over time, more people joined the investigation, gradually identifying the locations appearing in the scenes. The conclusion became increasingly clear: everything indicated that the filming took place in Tokyo, not in the countryside, as the material claimed.

  • “This traffic light is clearly from Tokyo. I bet it’s Higashikurume or near Oizumi.”
  • “That’s definitely the Kan-Etsu Expressway.”
  • “The old Kaetsuno Bus buses that run in Takaoka, Toyama, should have this color.”
  • “Metropolitan Route 194, ZIP 198-0042, Higashi-Ome 6-chome, Ome City, Tokyo.”

There’s even a part of the film where the crew, supposedly in the “countryside,” hides in a parking lot waiting for the young woman from the rumors. That parking lot was also eventually located by internet users.

It’s no secret that productions like this often exaggerate or alter details, but this case showed that even the location where the story takes place can be completely fabricated.

And it didn’t stop there. The production also claimed that the young woman was a beginner when, in reality, she already had previous experience in this type of work.

In the end, it remains a curious case of how random people on the internet united just to unmask a poorly told story — all because of a simple adult film.
