Three days ago, we reported that artist Maryco had accused Federico Antonio Russo, known as FAR, of allegedly harassing her when she was 14 and he was 23. She also shared a document outlining her version of events along with screenshots of conversations between them.

The reaction was immediate. FAR is the CEO of Buta Productions, a European anime studio that has worked on several anime projects and was preparing to release its first original anime, Let me Fix You.

However, Maryco later posted a new tweet retracting all accusations she had made against FAR.

In her new statement, she said she decided to withdraw the accusations, explaining that she had exaggerated, distorted parts of the narrative, and included incorrect information in her earlier version of events. She also publicly apologized and expressed hope that the situation could be put to rest, acknowledging that her original post had caused significant online attention.

Despite the girl retracting accusations against CEO developments, the impact had already reached the Let me Fix You anime project. Publisher Dokico, which is co-producing the anime with Buta Productions, confirmed that both the studio and FAR are no longer involved in the production.

The project, originally planned to debut on YouTube in late May, is now under internal review to determine how it will proceed without the original production company. However, manga author Sakura Kurihara stated that the anime is still expected to continue, though potentially delayed, and expressed support for the remaining staff.

Meanwhile, Buta Productions stated that it is undergoing restructuring and plans to cease operations following the incident, with FAR stepping away from the industry. The company also mentioned it is considering legal action related to the case, while further decisions about the project’s future are still being discussed.
