Young Woman Killed by Ex at Pokémon Center in Tokyo

Earlier this morning in Brazil (nighttime in Japan), many were shocked when news broke of a Pokemon Center Ikebukuro murder. A young woman was killed inside the popular store located in Tokyo.

A man entered the Pokémon Center with knives and stabbed a 21-year-old female employee. He then cut his own neck. Both were taken to the hospital, but sadly, both died.

New information released by authorities indicates that the victim had already contacted the police months before the crime. In December 2025, she reported being stalked by her ex-boyfriend.

According to the investigation, the attacker was her former partner and had shown increasingly obsessive behavior.

On the same day she sought help from the police, he reportedly appeared outside her home, which led to his arrest for violating anti-stalking laws. Even after that incident, the situation escalated into tragedy.

Japanese authorities believe the attacker had developed a strong obsession with the victim, possibly driven by his desire to resume the relationship. In previous statements, he reportedly said he wanted to get back together, which is why he had been stalking her.

Experts point out that stalking cases in Japan often escalate quietly until they become serious situations. For this reason, they stress the importance of continuous monitoring and stronger protective measures for victims at risk.

The Pokémon Company released a statement confirming that the Pokémon Center will remain closed for an indefinite period.
