Japan Will Launch a Course Where All Teachers Are VTubers

Japan is preparing to launch a cram school where teachers are VTubers, specifically aimed at high school students. The initiative comes from the Japanese company Luminaris, which announced the opening of Virtual Cram School Wish High, an online service where all instructors are virtual creators.

The new course where teachers are VTubers will officially launch on March 1 and primarily targets students who live in rural areas or do not attend traditional school. In Japan, school non-attendance is not illegal, which creates a need for accessible educational alternatives. Because of this, the project aims to provide a more flexible option for those who want to continue learning.

All VTuber teachers are active virtual creators who have their own channels and regularly produce online content. This means they are not traditional teachers using VTuber avatars, but real VTubers themselves.

The classes include standard high school subjects such as mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, classical literature, world history, Japanese history, and geography. Although the main focus is high school students, the course where teachers are VTubers can also be accessed by anyone interested in learning or reviewing school content, regardless of age.

The service will have a monthly subscription of approximately 9,900 yen, about 65 US dollars, granting access to the full lessons. In addition to the paid classes, the school has also created a YouTube channel where students can get to know the VTuber teachers outside the formal environment. To celebrate the launch, special livestreams are scheduled to introduce the instructors and explain how the curriculum will work.
