Foreigner Creates Video About “Mangaka Who Don’t Sexualize Their Characters” and Japanese Fans Mock It

There is a TikTok account called “Otaku Void” that posted a video titled “Mangaka Who Don’t Sexualize Their Female Characters.” In the video, the creator mentions several mangaka, making it clear that either 1) the video was made purely to go viral, or 2) no real research was done.
The video lists the following “mangaka”: Hayao Miyazaki, Hajime Isayama, Eiichiro Oda, Koyoharu Gotoge, and Junji Ito. The curious part is that the creator used a photo of Eiji Aonuma, producer of The Legend of Zelda game series, as if it were Eiichiro Oda.

Somehow, the video reached Japanese users, who reacted like this:
- ???
- That photo of Oda isn’t Oda lol
- Oda definitely draws in a sexualized way
- Oda himself openly admits that he draws his characters in a very sexualized manner
- Foreigners really are dumb. That’s why they don’t even understand why Jujutsu Kaisen was criticized in its latest episode
- Demon Slayer straight-up shows a red-light district and nobody complains
- If you compare them, Naruto is less sexual than One Piece
- Oda’s fetishes are so niche that they end up being tolerated
- Oda isn’t a lolicon, so he’s actually fairly wholesome
- If you don’t want to see women, go read Toriko
- How is Jujutsu Kaisen not on the list? lol
They even managed to drag Jujutsu Kaisen into the discussion. In the end, if you check the original TikTok post, most of the comments are people mocking the account that posted it — and this is their most popular post so far.
