DLsite Fights Back Against Visa and MasterCard with a New Payment Method Free from Censorship

You probably know how Visa and MasterCard have been censoring adult content from anime, manga, and games. These two financial giants dominate the credit and debit card industry, but in recent years they’ve begun blocking transactions for stores and platforms that sell products they don’t approve of.
Because of their restrictions, Steam was recently forced to remove several adult games, and multiple Japanese platforms announced they would stop accepting card payments altogether. One of these platforms was DLsite, which had to suspend Visa and MasterCard payments.
Now, DLsite is striking back with a new payment method developed in partnership with the Japanese digital bank Minna no Ginko (みんなの銀行). This new system offers a direct alternative to traditional credit card payments, allowing for instant and secure transactions — without corporate censorship.
DLsite new payment method offers freedom from card company restrictions

The new option, called “Minna no Ginko Kessai” (Minna Bank Payment), officially launched on October 6, 2025. The feature works by linking your Minna no Ginko digital bank account directly to your viviON ID — the same account used across all viviON services, DLsite’s parent company.
Minna no Ginko is a fully digital, smartphone-based bank that lets users handle payments, transfers, deposits, and savings through an app — no physical card required. Account creation is quick and can be completed in about five minutes, making it an accessible and modern alternative.

Launch campaign offers bonuses and up to 90% OFF coupons
To celebrate the release of this new DLsite payment method, the company is offering a set of special promotions.
Users who open a viviON branch account within the Minna no Ginko app will receive 500 yen in cash directly into their account.
Additionally, users who connect their Minna no Ginko account to their viviON ID for the first time will get a 90% OFF coupon (up to 1,000 yen) to use on DLsite.

Even better — after making the first payment using Minna no Ginko Kessai, you’ll receive an additional 90% OFF coupon. This promotion runs until January 30, 2026.
More cashback and points for users
DLsite is also increasing its viviON Points rewards for those using this new payment system. Normally, purchases return 2% in points, but until March 31, 2026, users who pay via Minna no Ginko will get 5% cashback — an extra 3% bonus.
This makes it an excellent opportunity for fans who regularly buy doujins, digital manga, or adult games on DLsite, taking advantage of both deep discounts and higher cashback rates.
Why DLsite created an alternative to Visa and MasterCard

According to an official statement from viviON, the creation of the new Minna no Ginko viviON branch is part of a broader strategy developed alongside the GEO Group to expand cashless and digital payment options.
As online transactions grow and Visa and MasterCard continue imposing restrictions on adult content, DLsite aims to give users a freer, safer, and more modern payment experience.
The company also plans to expand Minna no Ginko Kessai to other viviON services, strengthening its independent payment ecosystem and ensuring that creative expression remains uncensored by financial corporations.
