One Punch Man 3 Will Not Surpass First Season, Says New Director
Shinpei made it clear in a response to a fan on Twitter: “The third season will not be on par with the first.” Here’s his full reply:
“No, I came with the determination and readiness to shoulder the responsibility for the work you all hold dear. It may not please everyone, it may even anger some. But someone has to take it on. I have accepted that burden and I’m ready to move forward.
The third season probably won’t surpass the first, but the anime carries the persistence and creativity of its creators. Please, at least accept that.

Nowadays, many studios are backed by huge corporate funding, and much of the talent has gathered there. Still, as I’ve said before, I want to support JC Staff, which strives to improve working conditions and nurture its own staff.
Please stop with the harassment and the questions I cannot answer because of NDAs. I sincerely ask you.”

His honesty has won over many fans, with comments like “He is such a good person”, “This is great, I respect him”, and “as long as it’s better than season 2”.
However, he also mentioned harassment. Some profiles have attacked his comments, even calling him inappropriate due to his previous work directing ecchi and hentai anime featuring underage girls, such as Dogeza.

“It’s a shame this hentai gooner is gonna destroy my favourite childhood show into shit ND I can’t do shit about it! Sham on you, you have blood on your hands. Its just so depressing all this.”
That same user later bragged about being blocked by Shinpei after leaving multiple malicious comments like the one above.
